The transformation of the M11/9mm into the Max-11

When I first got to shoot some machine guns I was like how am I ever going to be able to afford this. I think the first machine gun I got to shoot outside the Marine Corps was the HK MP5 and I think that is what started this addiction. That was my first submachine gun. If you want to buy a machine gun on a budget "get a Mac, they're cheap" is what I would hear. Cheap, that means different things to different people. Well the going price at the time for the cheap machine gun was about $2500, and that was a little outside my budget, so I ended up blowing it off. Well six or eight months later I got talked into going to and competing in a submachine gun match. This match fueled the addiction even further. At this match I got introduced to the Max-11. Now for the people that are asking what the hell is a Max-11 let me try to explain. The Max-11 is a M11/9mm (Mac) with a slow fire upper receiver made my Richard Lage. That is when I knew I had to have a Max-11.

This is the SWD M11/9mm in its stock form. Its not the most ideal submachine gun because of its bad sights and cheap wire stock. It has a cyclic rate of about 1200 RPM making it too fast to be controllable, but this was the first step in getting the Max-11. It may not be the best submachine gun for submachine gun matches, but it is one of the most fun to shoot. There is nothing like dumping 32 rounds in less than 2 seconds.

Here is the Max-11 with the K grip. I put the Lage side folding stock, the new pistol grip and a C-More railway sight. I also made a custom extended magazine catch, but more on that later. The new Lage upper has an 8" barrel and slow the rate of fire down to about 650 RPM. Now this makes a really good submachine gun for the submachine gun matches.

Here is a picture of the old and new magazine catch. The new on the right and the old on the left.
Here is a picture of the Max-11 with the SWR Trident9. This is the same suppressor I will be using on the 9mm build.

<----Here is a little Video of the Max-11 for my buddy Glen.
